Are you looking at different flooring options for your home? There are many flooring options out there, and it may be hard to know which one is right for you. In our first blog this month, we are going to briefly talk about one flooring option, laminate.
The great thing about laminate flooring is its wide range of styles and colors. Although most are designed to have a hardwood effect, granite and marble effect finishes are also available. Laminate flooring is usually made of fiberboard and melamine resin, formed into panels or pieces. The panels are designed to slot together, much like hardwood flooring. It should be noted, however, that the melamine resin used in laminate flooring will sometimes contain formaldehyde. If you are concerned about the toxins found in formaldehyde, you may want to research products with fewer toxins.
Many people choose laminate flooring because it is easy to install and usually costs less than many other flooring options. With all the style and color options, you could enjoy a brand-new floor at a very reasonable price.
A few reminders. Before you install a laminate floor, be sure that the subfloor is in good condition and is clean and completely dry. Otherwise, you may find the flooring will start to buckle or warp. You will also want to keep in mind that laminate flooring will occasionally move or shift. Having the flooring installed professionally is always a good idea.
