Property owners know that safety and security are two very important concepts for themselves and their families. However, in some respects, if you are the owner of a rental property, you also bear responsibility for the safety and security of your tenants. Besides the moral imperative here, there are also legal liabilities to think about, to say nothing of the fact that your tenants are a source of livelihood for you.
To that end, it may be a good idea to take a look around your rental property to see if there’s anything you can do to improve safety and security for your tenants. Are there any low-hanging branches, exposed wires, damaged stairways, trip hazards, or other potential maintenance needs that could cause safety issues? How about security? Is there good lighting on the outside of the property? Are locks in good condition, or are more locks needed? Taking some time to think about these things can help keep your tenants safe and secure.
